Would you like some grilled cheese? Sure. How about French fries? Of course. A sandwich that combines the two? Hmm, why not? Actually…yes please! While the traditional sandwich fare is as popular as ever; we at The Brunette Diaries decided to take the liberty of experimenting with our sandwich fillings. So we went around and asked some people around about what they would like in their sandwiches, and the answers we got were rather surprising! Here are some crazy and unusual sandwiches that we would absolutely want to dig in.

French fries and grilled cheese:
You must be thinking this is a joke. But seriously, if you bite into this sandwich, you’ll be straightaway sky-rocketed to heaven. Soft, buttered bread with a crispy hot filling of French fries and grilled cheddar sopping in ketchup, is all you need to survive. We could live on this!
Don’t cringe just yet; wait till you know what gets in it! If you’re a die-hard pasta lover, then this Italian bonanza will take you by surprise. Pane Crostoso is hands down the best sandwich bread ever. This Italian bread is perfect for your cravings with the perfect balance of crustiness and softness. Carefully layer your leftover spaghetti between the bread and bake it for 30 seconds. We’re sure Italy is proud of us for this one.
Cranberry chutney and cheddar sandwich:
We Indians can’t get enough of our chutneys, can we? Perfect for breakfast, the USP of this sweet and sour sandwich is the cranberry chutney made with mashed cranberries, some sugar, salt, pepper, cinnamon and a dash of lime juice. The cheddar cheese adds depth to the sandwich that can easily bring the dead back to life.
Peas-and-potato sandwich with roast beef:
For the lover of red meat, this one’s a must try. That’s a personal recommendation, mind you. Buttery mashed potatoes and boiled peas make for the perfect soulmate to a thick slice of spiced roasted beef. Barbeque or mustard sauce would complement the sandwich well. Try whole grain bread to surprise your taste buds.

Pickled vegan sandwich:
Here’s a treat for your vegan taste buds! The freshest cucumbers, with pickled goodness of jalapenos, tomatoes and mangoes, this sandwich will tickle your tongue until the last bite. Have it with your favorite dressing or if you’re health conscious, just drizzle some olive oil and munch on.
Roasted chicken and cherry tomato sandwich:
What’s a sandwich without chicken? Nothing! The most popular sandwich filling is hands down roasted chicken. And I’m sure you could never resist a huge sandwich piled on with heaps of roasted chicken, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, onions and salsa. Mouth watering, isn’t it?

Avocado and salami, two-cheese sandwich:
A personal favorite of mine, this sandwich is everything you’d ever need to satiate your hunger pangs. Plus it packs so many nutrients all in one sandwich, that you’d be surprised to find that you hardly need to eat anything else!
Nut butter, Nutella and raisin sandwich:
If you’re feeling blue, this one’s sure to cheer you up. Spread your favourite nut butter on your favorite type of bread (I’d go with brown bread or cookies!), add a spoon of Nutella and sprinkle some raisins on top of it. This one’s best enjoyed open faced.
Yogurt and potato vermicelli (aloo bhujia) sandwich:
If you boast about your perfect eating habits, then try this one. A yogurt and potato vermicelli (popularly known as aloo bhujia) will change you into a messy eater in minutes. This unusual sandwich is so tasty than it will blow your mind! Just mix lots of whipped plain yogurt in your aloo bhujia and spread it onto your sandwich bread. Oh and yes, keep lots of tissues handy.
