In Bollywood, we have a lot of beautiful and talented actresses. Some have made their mark with their acting skills and some have made their mark with good looks.
Nowadays we have a trend of women-centric films. While, actresses like Rani Mukerji, Kangana Ranaut, Priyanka Chopra, etc are impressing the critics and the audiences alike, and are making women-centric flicks a hit at the box-office, we feel there are a few actresses in B-Town, who can never carry a woman-centric movie on their shoulder. here’s our list…

Katrina Kaif is surely one of the most beautiful actresses is Bollywood. She has made a mark in B-Town because of her stunning looks and her dance moves. But, will she be able to carry-off a woman-centric film? Well, we don’t think so. We all know that Katrina got opportunities in Bollywood because of Salman Khan’s help. She has been a part of many super-hit and blockbuster films, but none of them were hits solely because of her. The films became hit because of her superstar costars – Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, etc. Furthermore, Katrina has always been lashed for her acting abilities. These are the main reasons why Katrina tops this list.
Sonakshi Sinha is one of the most understated item-girls of Bollywood, we can say. Why do we say so? Well, there are several films in her four-year-long career till now that have had her only for songs – ‘OMG – Oh My God’, ‘Himmatwala’, ‘Boss’. Even in films like ‘Rowdy Rathore’, ‘Bullett Raja’ and ‘Holiday’, her only purpose was to provide respite from the action and drama in the film. Though, she proved her acting mettle in ‘Lootera’, one cannot deny that the film couldn’t pull the audiences to the theaters. Like Katrina, even Sonakshi has given blockbusters at the box-office, but all thanks to her co-stars – Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor, etc. Sonakshi is stepping into the league of women-centric films with A.R. Murugadoss’ upcoming film, but we need to wait and watch whether the film will work at the box-office or not.
Shraddha Kapoor’s second film itself was a woman-centric film. Titled as ‘Luv Ka The End’, it got unnoticed and was a flop at the box-office. She came into limelight with the film ‘Aashiqui 2’ which was a sleeper hit. Her pretty face, innocent eyes and petite body have won her a lot of fans, more so after her “Aarohi” stint. But is this enough to make a woman-centric film led by her a success at the box-office? Well, we highly doubt. However, you never know, after a few years even Shraddha will be ready for a woman-centric film; but for now, all she can do is make it to this list.
Asin Thottumkal has a record of being a part of 100 crore club films in Bollywood. Every film she has been a part of in B-town has entered the 100 crore club (except ‘London Dreams’). But, not a single film rode on her shoulders. She had superstars like Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan, for company in each film. So, we don’t think she can make a woman-centric film work at the ticket window. However, her main test is her upcoming film ‘All Is Well’, which doesn’t have any superstar in it.
Sri Lankan beauty, Jacqueline Fernandez, has also been a part of back-to-back blockbusters like ‘Housefull 2’, ‘Race 2’ and ‘Kick’, but we all know that these films worked because of the popular stars in it and not because of Jacqueline. Though in ‘Race 2’ and ‘Kick’ she tried her level best to prove her mettle in acting, she was overshadowed by the superstars in the film and was tagged as just a glam doll. With this kind of a resume, we do not think she can impress the critics and pull the audiences to the theaters single-handedly sans a popular hero.
Kareena Kapoor Khan:
Kareena Kapoor Khan has proved that she is a fantastic actress. She has been part of many successful films and has worked with all the popular Khans in the industry. And no matter how big a star she was seen with in a film, Kareena always managed to win hearts. But, when it comes to women-centric films, Kareena has unfortunately not been lucky enough. She has earlier led a few women-centric films like ‘Chameli’, ‘Khushi’ and ‘Heroine’, but none of these movies managed to rake in the moolah at the box-office. ‘Chameli’ did manage to impress the critics, but when it came to pulling the audiences to the theaters, the movie disappointed. Maybe even Kareena has realized this, and that’s why the gorgeous actress has chosen to steer clear of women-centric films from now on.
