7 Tips To Be Prepared For Monsoon Season
As monsoon approaches and summer fades away, going from taking bath with cold water to hot showers, we start preparing ourselves for the season of rain, thunder and the whole lot of romantic weather. There are many areas where you'll need to change, like stop wearing white clothes, waterproof mascara, leakage proofing your roof and many more! Monsoon is one of the most exciting seasons of the year, when you feel the maximum attachment to Nature, witnessing the raindrops kissing the surface of the mother earth. So, here are some tips for you to be monsoon ready!
1) Check your roof
There's nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night to the "drip… drip… drip…" of a leaky roof. Before the monsoon rains come rolling in, inspect your roof or have a professional do it for you. Patch up any cracks or holes, and get recommendations on good roofers, just in case you need to call in the professionals.
2) Pre-monsoon examination
Examine your house properly before the onset of the monsoon season, and get the cracks and damaged tiles repaired to avoid seepage. Also, get the wires checked, or any electronic that needs to be kept away from the window for it can get in any contact with water.
3) Furniture care
Furniture and wooden finishes including cub boards and railings can get musty or even damage due to fungus or termite infest. Put camphor balls, Neem leaves or cloves in the cupboards and closets to protect inside clothes and other valuable items from dampness. Make sure you clean them often with dry clothes or vacuum throughout the wet season.
Now, this is the season where you need your clothes to dry as quickly as possible and that is where synthetics and sheers pay off. Stick to loose silhouettes this season as monsoon mean extra humidity and if you wear something that sticks to your body, you will be uncomfortable the whole time.
Avoid all kinds of oil-based products as much as possible. Also, avoid doing a heavy makeup, or as we say cakey makeup. Make sure all your beauty products are waterproof especially your eye-liner. Lip glosses tend to smear and run through the lines when moisture levels are high, so opt for a matte lip colour. Mineral-based foundations and water-based products are the best bet for the season.
6) Moist free interiors
Sunlight is minimal during monsoon, so replace heavy summer drapes with lacy translucent curtains to get as much sunlight as you can. Moist inside the houses, not only creates bad odour but can spoil your walls, wall hangings and furniture.
The most important part of your life that boosts up your confidence but the humidity in the air in monsoon can shatter that very same confidence by making your hair frizzy. Apply oil frequently along with gentle massage. Anti-frizz serums and hair products are a great way to keep your hair looking nice. You may keep your hair tied in a messy ponytail, a fish braid or a ballerina bun.
