Deepika Padukone Adds Another Feather To Her Hat
When we take the name Deepika Padukone, what comes to our mind is a talented actress, a social activist who launched the Live Love Laugh Foundation to fight depression. In 2018, Deepika was in news first for her portrayal as Rani Padmavati in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat and then towards the end of the year for her wedding with Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh.
The stunning actress has now added another feather to her hat. Deepika has been appointed the chairperson of Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI). The actress has replaced filmmaker Kiran Rao who served the chairperson for four years. Deepika was given the position at the recently held board meeting of Jio MAMI film festival.
Kiran told a leading daily,
“It has been my privilege and pleasure to work as part of the core team of MAMI, and after four years as Chairperson of the Academy, I am delighted to welcome one of India’s most loved film stars, Deepika Padukone as the new Chairperson.”
She went on to say,
“Deepika has been a supporter of the festival and part of our Board of Trustees and is a person whose ethos and work I greatly admire. I am sure that under her leadership the Academy will become stronger and more robust in serving the cinema community. I look forward to supporting her on this journey and wish her all the very best,”
Talking about being appointed the chairperson Deepika said,
“It’s an absolute honour and a huge responsibility. I believe in MAMI’s vision and we are committed towards creating a community that cinema lovers and creators of a film passionate nation like ours truly deserve.”
Jio Mami took to Insta and shared the news as well.
We wish Deepika Padukone luck as the chairperson of MAMI
