Fruit hair spas:
No need to head to the salon for chemical-laced fruit hair spas when you can get a better one at home!
1 ripe banana
1 ripe avocado
1 tbsp organic or wild honey
A handful of mint and neem leaves
1 tbsp olive oil
Method: Grind the mint and neem leaves with a little bit of water and olive oil to form a thick paste. Then add mashed banana, avocado and honey. Mix well and apply on your scalp and hair for a minimum of 30 minutes or one hour. Wash off your hair with a mild shampoo and conditioner and let your hair air dry.
Ayurvedic hair spas:
In India, Ayurveda has been used to cure most ailments thousands of years ago. Why not use it to get long, lustrous locks? (Excuse the intentional alliteration!)
½ cup sapindus (Reetha)
½ cup Indian gooseberry (Amla)
½ cup Acacia concinna (Shikakai)
½ cup fenugreek (methi) seeds
2 tbsp natural aloe vera gel
1 egg white
Method: Soak the first four ingredients in separate bowls overnight. Then grind them together to form a paste. Finally add the aloe vera gel and egg white, and mix well. Apply this to your scalp and hair evenly and cover your head with a shower cap or a cloth. Leave it on for an hour or two and then shampoo and condition your hair as normal. Do not blow dry after a spa treatment as that would ruin its effect.
Herbal oil hair spas:
Oiling you hair is really very important if you want to keep them nourished. But if your daily schedule doesn't allow you to regularly oil your hair, oil-based herbal hair spas will do the trick. Use it twice a week for best results!
1 tbsp castor oil
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp almond oil
1 tbsp coconut oil
½ cup thick beetroot pulp
1 liter of strongly brewed tea (cooled to room temperature)
Method: Mix and warm the oils in a microwave safe glass bowl and add the beetroot pulp to it. Mix well and apply evenly all over your scalp and through the lengths of your hair. Leave this mixture for an hour or two in your hair. Before washing your hair, wrap a hot towel (soaked in hot water and wringed) on your head for 10-15 minutes. Wash off your hair with a mild shampoo and room-temperature water but don't over wash it else you will strip your hair off the goodness of the oil concoction. Use the strongly brewed tea as a last rinse for added shine. Let your hair air dry and reveal visibly shiny and lustrous hair in just one application!
Ensure you repeat these hair spas after every few days to benefit from the natural goodness!
