Homemade orange peel facemasks for glowing skin


Few of us know that an orange is one fruit which has magical qualities. Juice, pulp, peel, every part of this calcium, vitamin C and folic acid rich fruit is highly beneficial for us. However, many of us throw out orange peels once we’re done eating or juicing it. But did you know that orange peels are a powerhouse of nutrients and anti-oxidants which are great for the skin? The peels actually have higher vitamin C content than the fruit itself! Vitamin C is known to be an astringent that makes your skin glow. Hence, using the peel to make a healthy and natural facemask is a marvellous idea.

To make powdered orange peel, simply save up orange peels from the oranges that you eat, and wash them in warm distilled water. Spread the peel on a tray and give them plenty of sunshine. Finally, grind your sundried orange peels into fine powder using a food processor or blender, without adding any water. You can use this to make your own face-pack or try out one of ours!

For a blemish and dark spot removing facemask, you’d only need 2 other ingredients: honey and yogurt. Honey is great ingredient which helps to even out any discoloration or blemishes on your skin.


2 teaspoons orange peel powder

1 teaspoon organic honey

1 teaspoon yogurt

Mix all the above ingredients in a small bowl. Apply a thick coat of the mixture onto your clean face. Leave it on for 15 minutes or until it dries out. Rinse your face gently. Pat dry with a towel. You may also use coconut or olive oil as a natural moisturizer to combat dryness.

Anti-acne pack:

Orange peel also contains antioxidants that help keep pimples at bay. This facemask will help to deep cleanse your pores to drive out the dirt, grime, excess oil and bacteria, which cause pimples and blackheads on the skin.

1 teaspoon oatmeal

1 teaspoon baking soda

Mix the above ingredients with enough quantity of water to form a thick paste. Using a spatula, apply a thick coat of the mixture to your face and let it dry. Rinse your face with cold water. Your skin will feel amazingly soft and look clean and moisturised.

Got very oily and acne prone skin? Worry no more! This cleansing facemask will leave your skin free of excess shine yet moisturized at the same time. The orange peel is known to absorb excess oil or sebum.


2 teaspoons orange peel powder

1 teaspoon milk

1 teaspoon coconut oil

In a small mixing bowl, mix the above ingredients to make a thick paste of dropping consistency. Steam your face to open up your pores. Apply the mixture onto your face using clean finger tips in a circular motion. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes. Wash off with cool water to reveal glowing, soft and supple skin.
