Although the monsoons are starting to bid us goodbye, humidity will stick around for long. And in such weather, the most sensible thing to do, so as to avoid sweaty feet is to go sockless. No, I’m not kidding you. Bare ankles and toes not only feel light but also give out an easy-going vibe. The no-sock look is very much gaining popularity in the country. But you can easily go wrong with this one. Here are a few tips to get the no-sock look right without the foot odour:

Throw away your sneakers: Sneakers, keds and sport shoes definitely need to be worn with socks, so if you are going sockless, you’ll have to put them away for a while. The right type of shoes are essential to getting the no-sock look right.
Pick the right shoes: If you want to rock the no-sock look well, try moccasins or loafers that are more comfortable and airy. Boat shoes and well-made comfort sandals are also good to go. Pick good quality shoes as quality minimizes the “swamp foot” syndrome and let’s your feet breathe even while you’re wearing your shoes.
Keep it short: In other words, ‘going sockless’ means ‘showing your ankles’, so opt for ankle bearing pants like coloured chinos or cigarette pants in neutral or pastel colours. Baggy denims, cargos and trousers are a strict no-no for the sockless look. The idea is to keep it casual and cool.
Groom your legs: If you’re going to reveal your ankles then you don’t want them to be hairy. Make sure to wax (not your thing?), or shave your legs and groom them with a good almond-walnut scrub.
Keep it hygienic: If your feet are prone to sweating a lot, then you may want to consider using a good foot powder, if that too doesn’t work well enough for you, refer to the ‘cheats’.

Cheats to the sockless look: If you can’t stay without your socks, you can easily cheat your way into the no-sock look. Instead of going sockless all the way, try wearing the ‘no-show’ socks that just about cover the ankles, toes and soles of your feet. They are so low-cut that they don’t show above the shoes. This way, you can also avoid the sweaty-toes tingling inside your moccasins.
