We women extensively make use of the makeup brush, without knowing that they can be a haven for bacteria that are hazardous for our skin! It should be our top priority to make sure they are regularly cleaned and maintained. Here we tell you why and how to go about the process.
The harsh brush truth
Infection-prone bacteria are bred in full swing during the rainy season. They get trapped in the soft bristles of your brush and settle there. If you use such a brush for makeup then it is likely that your skin can lead to clogged pores, pesky breakouts and even aggravate your current skin problems. Therefore, it is very essential that you keep these tools clean. To ensure the same, all you need is a shallow bowl, a gentle clarifying shampoo or baby shampoo, clean, lukewarm water and a cloth and you are sorted.
Follow this method
- Wash the left over makeup off your unclean brushes gently by dipping it in lukewarm water. Avoid the loosening of glue or any future breakage and pay heed to the bristles rather than the point where the handle meets the bristles.
- Take the shallow bowl and fill it with lukewarm water; and for cleaning your blusher brush, fill the bowl a little more so that it soaks well. Add shampoo as required and form luxurious lather.
- Dip your brush into that water and keep swirling it and later rinse it with running water once again to wash away the soap. Repeat this process until the water runs clear from the brush.
- Finally, pat dry the brush on a clean cloth and soak the water from the wet brushes. Don’t forget to lay your brushes flat on a cloth to dry so that all the water is dripped out.
