As she comes like a fresh breath of air into acting, Pernia Qureshi talks to Rajashri Ramesh about her Bollywood debut, the fashion world and what’s next on her list.
You are an entrepreneur, a designer, a stylist, a dancer and now an actor. What’s next on your bucket list?
There are many things on my list that I am not even aware of. I think it is so exciting to discover new interests and take life as it comes.
How was your experience working in front of the camera?
Acting was a great experience. I felt very easy in front of the camera. I would love to work more on the craft and learn the fine nuances. It is a whole new exciting world for me.
How did Jaanisar happen to you? What was the best part of the film?
Jaanisaar was offered to me after Muzaffar sir had seen a few of my dance performances. He told me he was looking for a natural trained dancer and thought that I had a lot of potential that fitted right for the role.
How has the response been so far and are you happy with it?
I think the response from the people who matter has been good. I love hearing feedback and believe that it is the only way to grow and improve.
If there were one role that you would like to play, what would it be?
I would love to play Amrapali, if that film would ever be remade.
Now that you have made your debut, can we look forward to more of the actress in Pernia?
I have had a few offers, but I really want to take some time to think about what I want before jumping into anything. I feel like I am at crossroads and need to figure out what I want to focus on now. It is always good to have options. I just need to pick what is right for me.
What is fashion to you?
Fashion is a way to express yourself. It is a way to show who you are without having to say anything. Lastly, I think fashion is fun; it is a way to brighten up your day and play.
What is the trending bridal fashion?
Double dupattas. All girls are wearing one over their shoulders and the other as a veil over their head. It is Sabyasachi who has made this popular today.
