The wedding preparations can really take a toll on us. And due to this mental pressure we tend to forget some or the other important aspects only to realise when the wedding is a few days from the present. I’ve often noticed most brides-to-be and their families spend weeks and months deciding the best clothes and jewellery for the various ceremonies, but in-between booking the makeup and mehndi artist, they tend to forget the footwear. This means running about in the last minute to buy the bridal footwear which may jeopardise your comfort and health.

I’m sure many of you would agree that a perfect bridal look is only complete with the perfect statement footwear. But in order to choose the perfect pair of footwear, you must keep these things in mind:

Choose a pair of shoes that's easy to slip in and out of, as you may need to remove them during ceremonies

Comfort is key:

I don’t need to remind you that a wedding day is synonymous with standing upright for long hours right from clicking the pre-wedding photos to the ceremonies to thanking guests and more photos! Phew! All this would not be possible if you didn’t have a nice and comfortable pair of footwear. So be practical while choosing your wedding footwear and invest in a pair that’s comfortable to walk in.

Everyone has a different taste in fashion so do not compromise on that. Choose shoes that you love and would wear again.

Style:

Comfort in no way means compromising on your taste and style. You must choose a pair of bridal footwear you love and will cherish for years to come. Picking the right footwear that you can wear on further occasions is a smart move. If you aren’t sure about the current trends, don’t fret; simply choose a classic style and they will never go out of fashion.

Plan well:

Always buy your wedding dress and sandals together. You don’t want to rush about searching for the best matching pair of footwear at the last minute. Also keep in mind the length of your wedding dress and choose the style of your footwear that complements it well.

Heel-height:

Opting for the right heel-height is vital. Stiletto-loving brides may have to compromise on the inches as it’s definitely not okay to look and feel uncomfortable on your wedding day. You need to keep that sunshine smile on your face for the whole day. Kitten heels are the best bet in such a situation. Also consider your groom’s height as it’s his Big Day too, and it’s so uncool to tower above him in your wedding photographs.

Treat your feet:

Don’t forget the pedicure appointment! Your feet need to look beautiful on your wedding day so it’s best to go for regular pedicure starting a few months before the wedding. Once your feet look like lotus petals, pick a shoe pattern that will show-off the nicely done feet. Also keep in mind the fact that as an Indian bride, your feet will also be henna-clad so pick a shoe-style that will flaunt your beautiful mehndi.

Plan your budget:

An Indian superstar once said in a movie, that we only live, love and marry once. So because this is the biggest day in our lives, I’d suggest getting everything right on and dream-like. So have your shoe-budget planned out well in advance and stick to it.
