5 Very Real And Typical Traits Of An Indian Mother-In-Law
The fact in life is that you can choose the perfect husband for yourself, but what you can't choose is the perfect mother-in-law; she comes along with your hubby. Now I am not saying that all mothers-in-law are come straight from hell, but there is definitely a reason why they are so (un)lovingly termed monster-in-law. Here are some typical traits of an Indian mother-in-law that is 99.99% true!

Expects To Be Treated Like A Mother But Won't Treat You Like A Daughter
This is the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Indian mothers-in-law that unlike the west we call our husband's parents mom and dad, whereas abroad they just call them by their name. Now with the title of ‘mother', most Indian mothers-in-law expect their bahus to treat them like they would their own mothers, but in turn forget to treat her bahu like her own daughter.
Expects Her Bahu To Remember Everything
Right from the milk boiling on the stove to the likes and dislikes of every family member to the birthdays of distant aunties, the daughter-in-law is expected to remember it all, without missing anything. God forbid the daughter-in-law forgets even a single thing and can't function like a computer.
Constantly Lectures You On How To Raise The Perfect Child
No matter what you do you will always hear your mother-in-law give her expert tips on raising your children right. Be it matters of school or home, she is always up to give her piece of mind. After all she believes that she herself has raised the perfect child anyone ever could, i.e. your husband.
Spoils Your Kids Against All Your Wishes
I get it, grandmas love their grandkids, but the same mother-in-law lecturing you on how to raise your kids right will be found often indulging you kid with copious amounts of junk food, candies and TV. Forget homework, it can always be done after watching TV, right?
They Believe They Know What's Best
Mothers-in-law often talk about their time, when they were young, when they did this and when they did that. They believe they know everything there is to know about everything, be it keeping a husband happy, raising a child, cooking, living in a family and so on and so forth. And they never shy away from reminding you the same!
So that was my fun take of the typical traits of an Indian mother-in-law. While the above lies true in a majority of cases, fear not, for you may be that lucky one who actually gets a mother-in-law who is nothing short of a mother.
