Baking soda? For cooking right? You must be thinking... well, baking soda has immense health benefits for you that you may not have known. Baking soda has been a kitchen item for many years, but just a few know that it is actually a big player in the beauty world as well, one of the best kept secrets! Let us look at ways in which something as simple as baking soda can be used to cure everyday health problems that most people spend lots of money on.

Cleansing your hair
Your hair needs relief from product build-up. Trust me, it does. With all the harsh chemicals that you put in your hair, it needs to breathe. Did you know that Baking soda mixed with water can actually remove all the dirt and grime from product build-up? So, instead of wasting butt-loads of money on a clarifying shampoo, mix a packet of baking soda in about a litre of water and pour it on your head. Let it sit for about fifteen minutes and rinse away. This will leave your hair feeling soft and clean like never before!

Whitening your teeth
To make a teeth whitening paste with baking soda, mix one tablespoon of baking soda and five drops of hydrogen peroxide in a small container until a consistent paste develops. Add a few drops of water if necessary. Apply this solution to your teeth with a toothbrush or your fingers and let it set there for about five minutes. Then, brush it off with normal toothpaste and rinse thoroughly with water. Do this once a week and you are sure to whiten your teeth soon enough!

Sweat stains and body odour
You can even make an all-natural deodorant for yourself by mixing baking soda with a little bit of water and applying it as a paste on your under-arms.
