Easy And Quick Makai Palak For The Health Freaks
Staying fit and healthy comes at a price. Maybe that's why foodies like me have a tough time choosing fitness over our favourite foods. Yes, staying fit does mean that you'll have to maintain a restricted diet and keep away from unhealthy food items, but it's funny how people misinterpret the entire concept of staying fit. Refraining from food altogether, including the healthy kind, will not guarantee you a perfect body. In fact, regular intake of health food is advised.
Today, I'm going to show you how to prepare a healthy dinner recipe using two nutritious food elements – corn and spinach. Yes, makai palak it is! This classic Indian dish has been loved by generations alike, but here's a healthier and quicker version of the dish for all the health freaks and lazy chefs out there.
½ cup fresh corn kernels (makai ke daane)
400 grams fresh spinach leaves (palak ke patte)
2 chopped onions
2 chopped green chillies
Red chilli powder
Garam masala powder
¼ cup yoghurt
¼ cup water
Time For A Healthy Dinner!
Blanch and drain the spinach leaves and use a blender to puree them. Boil the corn kernels. Heat oil in a pan and start by roasting the chopped onions, chillies and grated ginger. After a few minutes, add the turmeric powder and chilli powder. Add the water and leave it to cook at medium heat for five minutes. Add the yoghurt next and mix well. Now, add the palak puree, boiled corn kernels and salt and cook well. Lastly, add the garam masala and remove from flame. Your delectable makai palak is ready!
