
Here’s The Curtain Raiser For Lakme Fashion Week/Winter Festive 2018
As we all know that Lakme Fashion Week/Winter Festive will take place next week and everyone’s dying to know all about the event. In its 18th year, Lakmé Fashion Week puts forth a promising line-up of shows, designers, creative presentations and ideas to be held from 22nd to 26th August 2018 at St. Regis, Mumbai. The forthcoming season will host a perfect mix of upcoming talent and the industry’s most established names that will set an unparalleled benchmark of diversity, creativity and fashion.
Monisha Jaising, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Abraham & Thakore, Amit Aggarwal, Ritu Kumar, Narendra Kumar, Kallol Datta, Ashish N Soni, Nachiket Barve, Gaurang, Pankaj & Nidhi among other designers will come together to present the best of fashion through sustainable and inclusive collaborations. Since its inception, Lakmé Fashion Week has strived to promote young talent, taken the lead on the digital front, has been at the helm of kick starting conversations on beauty and continues to excel by innovation as a global fashion platform.
This season too, Lakmé Fashion Week will witness the perfect amalgamation of upcoming talent and the industry’s most established names. A platform for fresh talent, the Gen Next programme will launch five new designers who will get a chance to showcase their creations. Newly launched ‘The Platform’ in association with smart-water will present three emerging designers this season. Also, taking forward the legacy of giving fresh faces a chance to take to the ramp, six models will make a runway debut this August. Followed by 29 fresh faces who were chosen at the plus size model auditions, who will walk for aLL-The Plus Size Store’s show. International hair and make-up artists Daniel Bauer, Florian Hurel, Franco Vallelonga will return with their magical strokes at the upcoming season of Lakmé Fashion Week.

Highlights of the event:
1) MONISHA JAISING AS THE LAKMÉ ABSOLUTE GRAND FINALE DESIGNER
Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/ Resort 2018 will witness the return of Monisha Jaising, this time as a Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale Designer, where she will bring alive Lakmé’s beauty theme of Shades of a Diva.
2) REVEALING THE MUCH-AWAITED OFFSITE SHOWS
Grand finale – Monisha Jaising returns to Lakmé Fashion Week as the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale designer. Her collection is themed on ‘Shades of a Diva’ and will be showcased on 26th August in association with Cirque Du Soleil at an extravagant locale in Mumbai.
Good Earth - debuts at LFW 2018 with its first couture collection – ‘The Miniaturist’. Since the inception of its clothing line Sustain, Good Earth is all set after a decade to make its debut at Lakmé Fashion week 2018 with the launch of its couture collection titled ‘The Miniaturist’. At the show, the audience will have a unique experience of being immersed in the history, the nuances and the creation of gold and silver embellishments that we know as Gota.
3) SUSTAINABLE FASHION DAY
Sustainable Fashion Day is a property that celebrates the rich heritage of Indian handloom and indigenous craft season after season. With a special focus on Rajasthani & Odisha handwoven fabrics to khadi weaves and Kanjivaram to ecological fibers, the Sustainable Fashion Day (SFD) on 23rd August, will bring to life the magic of Indian heritage crafts.
4) STUDIO
Studio at Lakmé Fashion Week is an experimental space for conceptual presentations in formats that promote thought provoking collections by fashion & textile designers and artists. The Studio is a space fashion x art, music, technology, theatre and various creative disciplines converge and inspires designers & artists. Some of the designers this season include CHOLA, MISFIT PANDA, ANTAR AGNI, RUCERU, LABEL ETIKA, SAMMOHI, AND SITA MIKAHIL.
5) INCLUSIVITY
Every season Lakmé Fashion Week is known to set an unparalleled benchmark of inclusivity. Taking this momentum forward, this season makes way for industry stories on the evolution of fashion, upcycling and sustainability initiatives in the country. Initiatives such as the aLL Primero by Narendra Kumar, Half Full Curve and Gender Bender will once again push the envelope while embracing and endorsing inclusivity in fashion.
