How to maintain a healthy scalp
Scalp health is of utmost significance if you are want healthy, shiny and good looking hair. Most people ignore the scalp and look after the body of their hair, not realising that the health of your hair depends on where it stems from – your scalp! Let us look at some things you need to take care of to maintain a healthy scalp.
When you wash your hair, make sure the water is at the right temperature. It must be lukewarm, neither too cold, nor too hot.
You have to make sure you don't leave any remains of the shampoo or conditioner you use. These remains eventually build up into residue that damages scalp and gives rise to scalp problems.
Rinse your hair thoroughly, but use gentle hair care products as your scalp is sensitive compared to other body parts. Use a gentle shampoo that won't harm your scalp. And, keep your hair dryer set to low heat.
Tying your hair in a tight pony, in a bun or anything other than loose for prolonged periods of time can add stress to your scalp. Refrain from doing so.
Massage your scalp to stimulate blood flow. When you wash your hair, massage your scalp for 2 to 3 minutes, without aggressively rubbing it. This will help relax your scalp as well.
Avoid stress as much as you can as this affects your overall health. When it comes to your scalp, it is most often the first part of your body to be affected by stress.
A well-balanced diet is essential for beautiful hair. Giving your scalp all the nourishment it needs is important. By having a well balanced diet, you can treat your scalp to all the nutrients it deserves for growing your hair.
Your body needs rest to recover. Every body part needs this rest to make sure it doesn't injure itself by overworking. Working for production of sebum, production of new hair follicles and maintaining healthy hair body is all the job of your scalp. Make sure you reward it with adequate rest!
Treat your scalp like how you'd want it to treat you. If you want it to produce the hair you'd like to see and show, treat it that way!
