The Weight Loss Program That Made Me Eat A Lot And Shed Weight Too!
In the first part of my weight loss chronicle, I told you all about my hypothyroidism and my unsuccessful tryst with slimming centres. I told you how I had vowed not to fall prey to any more slimming shortcuts. This very resolve is possibly what made me send that enquiry SMS to Truweight, because even they were belittling weight loss shortcuts in their newspaper ad.

But this time I didn't want to be taken for a ride; I didn't want to waste my time and money on a useless weight loss program. So, when Truweight's Sales Associate called me up, I pounded her with numerous questions that evidently showed how cynical I am when it comes to such programs.
My questions to the Sales Associate:
- How can you be sure I will lose weight despite my severe thyroid levels?
- Will I regain my lost weight once the program is over?
- How will you know whether I'm actually saying the truth about what I ate?
- What is so special about the superfoods you provide?
- That means, I can't have outside food or chocolates?
- … and a lot of other questions!
But every answer that the lady at the other end of the phone gave me instilled my trust in the program. She also explained to me how counting calories is a wrong way to lose weight. To get a gist of what she said, watch this video. Maybe you'll see why I thought she did make sense:

Eventually, I decided to give Truweight a try, too. At least they seemed sensible and truthful, I convinced a still-skeptical me. Plus, unlike the earlier programs I entered, at least they are providing me with so many food items, instead of just handing over a list of foods I need to purchase. I paid the amount the same night (lest I change my mind).

The next day, I got a call from Truweight's nutritionist who asked about my likes and dislikes in terms of food items. She asked me about my cooking preference; super easy was my quick response! She asked me to download Truweight's app and fill up my profile details that did a quick check on my food and cooking habits. She requested me to inform her on the app, via a chat, whenever I receive the Detox kit.
Within 2 days, I got a huge parcel from Truweight. So many things, I was excited. Ready-to-cook upma, red rice poha, amla juice, and a lot of other stuff… including energy bars and chocolate! I was already happy with them ;) Besides the food items, the kit also consisted of two books on how to weight-proof our life and a guide to ‘tru' weight loss. An avid reader that I am, I started reading one of the books the same night onwards. The short and crisp chapters in the book were quite absorbing and informative, I must say.

Within no time, with guidance from my personal dietician, assigned by Truweight, I embarked on my weight loss journey. My first 10 days constituted phase 1, Detox. Here, I had to cleanse my body of toxins. So, no sugar, no milk, no paneer or potato, no non-veg. I was scared I might lose interest as soon hunger pangs strike me. But, each of their meals had so many food items, that I actually could not have them all! On following their diet chart, I realized I do not even feel as hungry as before. Whenever I would feel even a little hungry, I would reach out to a small portion of food, and I am sorted! In fact, at times, I actually felt that all I am doing nowadays is eat, eat and eat. I cannot deny the fact that at times I did cheat too… with Snickers! :D But I would log that too in the app. I thought that my dietician would be upset with me. But she calmly and sweetly advised me on how I can avoid the cravings, though she added that an occasional cheating is okay. I was delighted yet again ;)

Day 4 - I check my weight. Half kg down. "Hmmm… not bad! But let's not get all excited already," I told myself.
Day 9 - I check my weight again. Another half kg down. "Is this really working," I wondered.
Day 11 - I start with Phase 2 – Superfoods.
Day 15 – Weighing machine shows 66.5kgs! Damn, 1.5 kilos down in 15 days? This program IS working!
Day 20 – 66kgs! Are you serious? 2 kilos down in 20days! Despite my underactive thyroid glands?
To be honest, I was worried. I was worried if this rapid weight loss also means that my weight gain post this program will be equally rapid. I consulted my dietician. She told me there's nothing to worry about; I am doing absolutely well, and that the lost pounds won't bounce back if I continue a healthy lifestyle. Well, point taken!
Day 24 – I weigh myself again, silently smiling thinking if my weighing machine will now show me 65 or 65.5. But… 66kgs! I could hear my heart break.
Day 28 – I weigh myself again. "Please, let there be weight loss this time," I prayed. 66.5kgs, my weighing scale showed. WTF! How is this possible? I'm still sincerely following my program.
What went wrong? Why was the scale showing such numbers? What do I have to do to lose weight again? Well, I'll share all that with you, but in the next part of my weight loss chronicle.
Until then, ciao people :)
