Quick and Healthy Oats Dosas
I hate oats. Simply H-A-T-E them! Sure they're healthy, but they're just not my idea of a good breakfast. So what do you do when your nutritionist strictly (emphasis on the previous word) advises you have them every morning? Well, I totally dig on dosas, so I thought of adapting my dosa with some oats (just to make them a bit palatable for me). And that's how I came up with the Oatmeal Dosa! A recipe that is really simple, healthy and quick – and gives you super delicious savory crepes!
3/4th cup instant rolled oats
1/4th cup rice flour
1/4th cup wheat flour
1 green chilli, finely chopped
1 tablespoon coriander leaves, finely chopped
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 small onion finely chopped or grated
Water as required
Salt as per taste
Oil to fry
Method: Prepare your batter by mixing all ingredients in a large bowl, except for the oil. Let it stand for 15 minutes. Heat a non-stick pan and drizzle some oil on it. Since this is a healthy recipe, make sure to use minimal oil. Next, check the consistency of your dosa batter – it should be thin and runny. Add a ladleful of dosa batter on your pan and spread it using a spatula. Once it turns golden brown, flip it and cook the other side for a minute or two. Your yummy, crispy oats dosas are ready!
Since oats are quite dry and we haven't used much oil in the recipe, better have some healthy homemade sambhar to dunk the crepes in!
