Style Guide – What To Wear With Different Kurtis
A few years ago, we used to fall in love with our pretty kurtis only when it was office Diwali party or a house-warming puja! Thanks to our Indian fashion designers for bringing the humble Indian outfit in fashion spotlight, more and more women are now going the kurti way. Bollywood celebrities are increasingly being spotted in so-wearable-yet-classy kurtis. They are also becoming the preferred choice of most women when it comes to office wear. Sadly, I also spot women looking like a disaster because they have coupled their kurti all wrong. So it's time we have a little chat about what to wear with different kurtis. Let's begin.

Leggings

Leggings are the norm when it comes to wearing something with your kurti and they are surely never gonna go out of fashion. Style your kurti in a classic way by matching it with a pair of leggings. Take special care about the fabric of your leggings; see-through leggings are a big no. Also, never pair a short kurti with leggings because no matter how shapely thighs your thighs are, it just doesn't add to the style quotient.
Palazzo Pants

Palazzo pants are new in town and are surely making women crazy. Celebrities can't stop going gaga over palazzo pants and neither can we. Pair a long kurti (one that ends way below your knee) with a pair of chic palazzos. Create a contemporary yet ethnic look. Pair them with a pair of heels for a taller look or just a pair of comfortable jootis.

Jeans

A crisp, pastel kurti with three-quarter sleeves look oh-so-sexy when paired with a pair of blue, slim jeans. This is one effortless look that can never go wrong. Mind the length of the kurti; it should be short and something that ends right around your thighs.
Patialas
[caption id="attachment_21299" align="alignnone" width="222"] Go ethnic, with a kurti and Patialas[/caption]
Patialas were made popular by Kareena Kapoor in ‘Jab We Met'. Patialas are the traditional and comfy way of styling your kurtis. It is perhaps your best bet during the summer months. The kurti should be short with full or three-quarter sleeves. A black Patiala and a white one are all you need; they practically gel well with most of the colours.

Dhoti Pants

Dhoti Pants, also affectionately known as Dhoti Pyjamas, are a notch higher than the regular Patiala. You're sure to look like the uber cool chick in those trendy Dhoti Pants. Try wearing a printed, vibrant Dhoti Pyjama below a shirt-style monochrome kurti for an eye-catching look.
Skirts
[caption id="attachment_21308" align="alignnone" width="246"] Up your style quotient by pairing a long skirt with a kurti[/caption]
This combination would sure have sounded odd a few years earlier but it's the latest trend these days. Pair a long kurti with a flared skirt that complements the colour of the kurti, and complete the look with a pair of jootis. Don't be surprised when you notice heads turn (for the good reasons, of course).
Trousers
[caption id="attachment_21309" align="alignnone" width="241"] Trousers are the best way to look sharp in a kurti[/caption]
Team that mundane kurti with your A-line trousers while heading for work and see how sharp you look. The kurti could either be a short or a mid-length one. This is by far the classiest way to style your favourite kurti.
Movies like ‘2 States' and ‘Piku' saw Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone respectively swearing by amazing feminine kurtis. So next time when you're in a fix and don't know what to wear with different kurtis, remind yourself of this style guide and you're sorted!
