Things You Should Do When You Meet The Parents Of Your Would Be
This day invited our entire life's jitters and nervousness. Meeting his/her parents is not at all an easy task. Finding love and falling for it might be easier, but when the D-Day arrives, our senses stop working, mind numbs, and we get all those cold-feet feels with the name parents itself. It just makes all of us anxious AF, leaving us all with a huge gulp in our throat.
Don't worry anymore. We are here to give you some tips to keep in mind when you are meeting the parents. They will help you to overcome all the confusions in your head and pass this exam with an A+!
Wear Something Comfortable And Confident
We can't decide what to wear daily, and when we are asked to pick something nice and deck up for the parents, we'll end up screwing everything up. Well, we would suggest keeping something basic and normal. Until and unless you are not meeting them in a function, anything comfortable will do!
But people, don't end up going in pajamas, they're beyond comfort level. ;)
Don't Be Late
This is the most important and the simplest rule one should never forget. Turning up late for such an important meeting is a big NO! Parents will be eagerly waiting for you and you show up late will just give an impression of you not respecting their time. Remember, the first impression is the last impression.
Get A Housewarming Gift
Even if the parents don't expect anything out of you, never show up empty handed. Don't splurge too much, but just a box of cookies or chocolates will do. But, don't forget to make them feel comfortable about it. This will just act like brownie points in your favor. What if you end up entering their list of favorite people?
Be Who You Are
This always works! Be honest and polite to everyone in the house, including the younger ones. You being who you are will just give them a fair idea of who you are. Lying or just trying to be someone you are not will put you in a bad spot later.
Don't Forget To Compliment
One should follow this rule without a second thought. May be the mom is good at setting the table, or dad has helped mom in garnishing food, or it can be anything. Compliment guys, and spread the love.
And to top the list, don't forget to have fun. All the best, people, and meet the parents without any second thoughts!
