How annoying is it when you're out in public and your scalp starts itching like crazy? Or when it gets really flaky because of all the dandruff? Well, not only do you need to change your shampoo but also you have to find out if you have a dry scalp. While you're on the waiting list for your appointment with the dermatologist, you must give these home remedies a try for they never fail!
FYI, these ingredients are completely natural and are easily available in supermarkets.
Tea Tree Oil
The components in tea tree oil contain anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It helps calm the itching and dryness down. A flaky scalp is caused by over production of skin cells on your scalp. Tea tree oil helps to curb the over production too. A teaspoon of tea tree oil mixed with any other essential oil should be applied on the scalp and left overnight. Do this every night for better results.
Aloe Vera Gel
With a variety of uses, aloe vera gel is one of the most effective ways to treat dry scalp. It contains moisturizing properties and helps relieve the excessive dryness and itching. Apply aloe vera gel with the help of your fingers on your scalp. Leave it for about 10-15 minutes and then wash your hair with a mild shampoo.
Coconut oil helps restore the lost moisture and is very helpful in treating dry scalp. Apply a little coconut oil on your clean scalp and hair. Wash your hair again after 15-20 minutes with a perfume-free shampoo. Continue this process thrice a week for best results.
Honey And Olive Oil
Both honey and olive oil contain antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can relieve you of the itching. It helps maintain the sebum and thus decreases the flaking of your scalp. Make a mixture of honey and olive oil and apply it on your scalp. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then wash it off with a mild shampoo.
Lemon juice is effective in dealing with dandruff. It has antiseptic properties that reduce the dryness and itching. If you have dandruff, apply lemon juice on your scalp and let it set for 5 minutes. Wash your hair with shampoo. However, if you do not have dandruff then you should dilute lemon juice with water before applying.
No matter how many home remedies you put to use, they won't work until and unless you improve your diet. Take your meals on time and make sure you eat healthy food at least 4 days in a week. Drink adequate amount of water and consume the required nutrients.
